Annual Zydeco & Cajun Mudbug Bash To Be Held May 13-14
On May 13th and 14th,
Tallahassee will hold its first crawfish festival, the Zydeco &
Cajun Mudbug Bash at rural Leon County’s favorite juke joint,
the Bradfordville
Blues Club at 7152 Moses Lane.
Sponsored by TAZACA
(Tallahassee Zydeco and Cajun Assn., www.tazaca.org)
and BBC
(Bradfordville Blues Club, www.bradfordvilleblues.com),
the festival will begin Friday evening inside the Club. Scheduled
for that night is Zydeco legend, C.J. Chenier & the Red Hot
Louisiana Band.
On Saturday (May 14th)
the festival will continue outside on the grounds, and will feature
a variety of spicy Creole and Cajun foods (such as crawfish boils,
red beans & rice, cuboullion, boudin, andouille sausage, gumbo,
etoufee, etc.), a “hot sauce alley,” crafts vendors,
and dance instruction. Zydeco T from Atlanta, JB’s ZydecoZoo
from Tallahassee, and The Lost Bayou Ramblers from Lafayette, Louisiana,
will perform.
The festival will end
on Saturday night inside the Club with Church Point, Louisiana’s
Thomas “Big Hat” Fields and His Foot Stompin’
Zydeco Band.
