Born and raised in Columbus Georgia, Marty Jannetty was small town boy who dedicated his life to his love of sports. His father being a former college standout in sports and participating at the pro level until receiving a career ending injury, was MJ's inspiration, and helped him get on the right track with great training techniques and sports psychology. In turn MJ reached levels of excellence in several areas. MJ participated in track, football and wrestling- achieving all state status in football and wrestling. He attended Chattahoochee Valley Community College where is excelled in wrestling, winning the Southeastern US Conference title both years. After a major college which had recruited MJ for a scholarship his 3rd year, had to drop the wrestling program , MJ then decided to give football another try as he walked on at Troy State University. During this period several professional wrestling promoters had approached MJ and offered minimal contracts. Shortly after, with financial woes, MJ made the decision to go for it. He went to a local professional pro wrestling training facility, and within a years time, Pro wrestling received it hottest new prospect.

In 1984, MJ entered his first wrestling territory, All Star Wrestling, which covered the central states area. Within his first full year, MJ held all 3 of the areas titles, TV Title, Central States Heavyweight Champion, and Central States Tag Team Champion with Tommy Rogers. This was an unheard of accomplishment which has never been duplicated.

In 1986, MJ entered the American Wrestling Association, AWA, where he met up with friend and long time tag team partner Shawn Michaels, and received national exposure via way of awa's show on ESPN Saturday mornings at 11:00 am est. They went on to hold the World Tag Team Title on 3 separate occasions, and held another promotions ( CWA out of Memphis)Tag title tag team title simultaneously in 1987, again, another unheard of feat. Then The Midnight Rockers, as they were called at that time, made the big jump to WWF where they instantly became fan favorites. They introduced an innovative style of wrestling which began a change in the industry. After making a great showing for themselves in Wrestlemania V, they soon captured the WWF tag team Title, from the then Champions, The Hart Foundation in a 2 out of 3 fall match, where MJ actually scored a pin fall on WWF Legend Brett "The Hit Man" Hart. The Rockers had reached the top of their profession.

In late 1991, the wrestling world had a press release that would cause the most unwanted feud in wrestling. It was said and widely held, that Curt Hennig, Brett Hart, Shawn Michaels , Pat Tanaka and MJ were the best technical wrestles in the industry. This caused a competition between the 2 Rockers. As it became obvious that they were about equally talented Shawn Michaels turned to extreme measures to gain superiority. During an interview on Brutus "The Barber" Beefcakes talk show, Michaels took a cheap shot on Jannetty and proceeded to throw him thru the Barber Shop plate glass window. This was one of wrestling most memorable moments. Jannetty was out of wrestling for 6 months. Upon his return an unbelievable feud went on between the 2 for over 6 months. Some of the most exciting and best matches ever seen came out of this feud, with their IC Championship match receiving "Best Match of the Year" honors for 1993. Jannetty defeated his former partner to become WWF' IC Champion. He went on to hold another Tag team title with , the then 1-2-3 kid, later known as xpac. Then international arenas became attractive to MJ, who set his sights for competition, in 24 countries around the world. He became a fan favorite in each of the countries he performed in.

To date MJ still makes occasional international tours, but recently has had his attention focused on a organization which seems to be catching everyones eye who is lucky enough to catch a glimpse. Capital City Wrestling in Tallahassee Florida is the new home for M J. In fact he likes it so much he has relocated to Tallahassee just to be a bigger part of it. MJ still has the ability to electrify a huge audience with his dazzling speed and high risk maneuvers and high impact moves...CCW is the place to catch this wrestling legend.....
