Toots
Lorraine & The Traffic -
Friday August 19th at 9:00 PM. (from Reverbnation)
Every blues fan knows you have
listen to the “old” to find something “new”. It is a precious rarity
when the opposite is true and such is the case with Toots Lorraine and
The Traffic. The band delivers a focused blend of classic vibe that
will drench your soul with the vintage sounds of West Coast Jump Blues
and Swing as you board the train for destination “way back” where
everything is “Easy”. Toots and her sultry voice will take your ticket,
let you on board and, as you roll down the tracks, the band will keep
your glass filled with just the right measures of hollow body guitars,
reverb tanks, upright basses, harmonicas, pianos and organs. And, you
will swear to yourself, “I ain’t getting off this train”.
This husband and wife team share
the purest of love for the preservation of the blues. In
their brand new album, MAKE IT EASY, a phenomenal follow-up to their
first, Toots Lorraine expertly layers her powerful yet velvety voice
amongst the band’s vintage instrumentation and gut bucket grooves.
Along with classic blues covers of Big Mama Thornton, Howlin’ Wolf and
Big Joe Turner, you’ll also find gripping new originals with a huge
story to tell. Always rooted in the blues, Toots Lorraine and the
Traffic deliver a solid, energetic and scintillating performance.

Geoff Achison
& The Souldiggers
- Saturday, August 20th at 10:00 PM (from Reverbnation)
A jaw dropping, crowd pleasing guitar
virtuoso, Geoff Achison invokes the spirit of the great blues &
soul artists to create his original sound. Geoff began playing music in
his father's dance band at the age of 13. He switched to bass at 15
playing mostly jazz but eventually discovering an affinity for American
blues music. Inspired by the likes of Freddie King, Albert King, Buddy
Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Beck, Geoff honed his guitar skills
searching for his own unique voice via the blues. By his early 20's he
had moved to Melbourne and was hired as lead guitarist with bluesman
'Dutch' Tilders. Through Dutch's influence he
also began to develop a keen interest in acoustic blues. After several
years and three albums with Dutch's revered 'Blues Club' band Geoff
departed to form his own group, 'The Souldiggers'. With a focus on
writing original music that was funkier and more adventurous than the
more traditional blues styles, Geoff set his sights high and began
travelling internationally. In 1995 he represented the 'Melbourne Blues
Appreciation Society' at the 'International Blues Challenge' in Memphis
TN and won the 'Albert King Award'. This event also led to a
relationship with Gibson Guitars' acoustic division and an invitation
to conduct workshops at Jorma Kaukonen's 'Fur Peace Ranch' guitar camp.
He toured relentlessly from the late 90's and throughout the 2000's
counting the UK, US and Australia as his main markets. In 2007 Geoff
relocated temporarily to Atlanta GA to work closer with his US
management. Touring & recording resulted
in broadening his ever growing fan-base and a new studio album, 'One
Ticket, One Ride'. Along the way Geoff won several awards including the
'Albert King Award' in Memphis and Australia's 'Chain' blues award for
Best Band. Geoff made Guitar Player Magazine's '10 Hot New Guitarists'
list in 2008 and Truefire's "100+ Gifted Guitarists You Should Know"
list in 2011 and was named 'Official Patron' of the Melbourne Blues
Appreciation Society'. In 2014 he celebrated 20 years of working with
the 'Souldiggers' by staging a live concert in his hometown of
Melbourne which was filmed & recorded and ultimately released as a
combined CD/DVD package. In 2016 Geoff began work on a new studio
album, his first in eight years. The project featured 14 new songs and
titled 'Another Mile, Another Minute'. He lives in Melbourne, Australia
and continues to record & tour regularly.
